The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise. It's the one failed film in the attempted reboot of Universal Monsters franchise The Dark Universe. Is there anything of substance behind the creation of this attempted universe starter? How big is Russell Crowe as Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde? Why? These questions and more come up in our discussion on this truly insane reboot.

Next week: In anticipation of Solo: A Star Wars Story we begin our Star Wars Miniseries with the original Akira Kurosawa film that inspired George Lucas, THE HIDDEN FORTRESS.

In 2010 we were dick deep in the grubbiness of the era of gritty remakes of classic horror films. Producer Michael Bay hired the guy that directed the video for Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit to make a "scarier" remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street starring Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger. The remake truly stinks but years earlier Wes Craven himself reimagined his classic with the meta sequel New Nightmare.
